Description As we got out of the chariot, I looked at the night sky seeing the moon still wasn’t visible. Every time I stare at the moon and stars it always gives me a small piece of memory that never happened in my lifetime.
“Adolph?” Annette tugged my arm. “Are feeling okay? Do you have a fever?” I snapped back into reality and looked at Annette who had her soft warm hand on top of my forehead. I grabbed her hand slowly and gently. “Annette, I’m fine.” I kissed her hand and smiled at her. She giggled and urged me to walk inside.
We walked inside and there was music playing, people talking and laughing. As Annette and I walked near an open area away from the dance floor, she turned face to face with me. She placed her hand on her face. “Now Adolph,” She said with a calm and motherly voice. “I know this is your first time at a fancy party. And I want you on your best behavior.” She fixed my collar, dusting it off with her fingers.
“Now go! Schnell!” She turned me around and pushed me out into the crowd of people, I stumbled and caught myself. I was stood up straight dusting myself off; I looked around seeing women surrounding me. Most of them were giggling and instead of being proper, I blushed.
I looked down then inhaled deeply. I grabbed my collar with only my right hand and looked up with a pleasant smile. “Good evening ladies. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Adolph Der Engel.” I bowed down to show respect to the women. The ladies began to giggle, blush or speak to each other about me. I heard high heals tapping against the hard floor, I quickly turned to the sound and I saw a woman in a green poofy dress, long sleeves, and a white collar around her neck I found it award that she wore a hale like cloth the same color as her dress, on top of her head.
I noticed her hair was French braided and it was up in a bun. I admired her cute puffy cheeks, which were a bit red. Her eyes were a light green and weren't invisible at all. “Adolph... The Angel of Death.” She smiled holding her hands together, “You do know German? Don't you?” I looked at her for a moment to think then I responded. “Yes, I also know Italian, French, Dutch, Polish, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, Swedish, and Greek.” I faced her with my body; I then bowed down to her. “Very unique you know ancient Greek.” She reached out her arm for me to kiss her hand, and so I did. “I’m Princess Annabelle.”
She blinked slowly showing that she was supreme and wealthy. As I put my lips against her skin, she began to blush. Her face turned a tomato red and her smile had become tight and pulled back, making her top lip stretch and shrink. I looked up at her with my wondering eyes, and gave her a smile.
I stood up straight and smiled holding out my arm for Annabelle to reach out and grab it. She hooked her arm to mine and we walked off into the crowd of people. She began to start a simple conversation without once glancing at me. “I could tell you’ve haven’t been to a party in ages. You must not get out much?” She asked curiously. I looked at her in a calm but a shocked way. “That is correct. I haven’t been to a party in a while now.” I took a short breath. “And I’m not the social type.” She walked me towards a table that was covered with wealthy people, we sat down next to each other but I pulled out a chair for Annabelle.

We began a long conversation about our lives and common things that most wealthy people speak about. Though most of the things I had to lie about because I didn’t know much things about ‘money’ and ‘power’, so I would switch the conversation to something simple.

About an hour later, a bell was rung and a man yelled out “Wir müssen für Abendessen uns vorbereiten.” Which was in German for ‘We must prepare for dinner.’ Other announcers spoke in sorts of languages, and I was surprised to understand them all. Everyone was seated at separate tables. Like the Germans had their own table in the center of the room; which was the biggest table at the party. I sat with the Germans, and close to the king and Annabelle. Then waiters came from the kitchen into the party room, they placed metal trays on the tables in front of us. They pulled the lid off at the same time and took the lids. On everyone’s plate were chicken, mash potatoes with gravy, and some vegetables.
I looked at the expressions on everyone’s faces and saw that they look as if their starving. Annabelle looked at her father who was the first to pick up a fork and eat a piece of chicken. Then we all began to eat.
I ate slowly and showed my manners, of course I promised Annette to be on my best behavior. And I continued to stare at King Sepp, I gazed at him eating then once he looked at me I instantly looked away. King Sepp looks familiar but I’ve never seen him in my life. Then the word ‘Sepp’ came to mind. Which meant Joseph in German. That name and face seems so familiar. “Enjoying yourself Sir Der Engel?” King Sepp asked me with a pleasant smirk on his face. I snapped back into reality. “Oh, yes… Yes your highness.” He chuckled. “Just call me Sepp, I don’t really like being called King Sepp, or highness.” “Yes…. Sepp.” I said looking down at my food.
King Sepp… Or should I say Sepp stared at me with a puzzled look, I knew he was doing it but it didn’t seem to bother me. “Young Adolph, you haven’t eaten much.” I looked at him. “Yes, but for some reason I’m not very hungry.” He smiled and began to whisper. “I can tell you’re nervous… Is it my daughter who brings you nervousness?” I smiled looking straight at the candle on the table. “Actually, yes.” King Sepp had a very cheesy smile. “Perhaps you should stay the night here, in my palace. To calm this nervousness by socializing with my daughter a little bit more.”
I got chills down my spine when he said ‘socializing’ ‘staying’ and ‘night’. I gulped and began to sweat a little. I felt a little uncomfortable knowing what he means by ‘socializing with Annabelle’. “Sounds great.” I said with a friendly smile.
