Description I find painting to be so relaxing so I came up with this little idea. "Garden of the Kitsune" portrays a woman with fox ears (aka a kitsune) walking through her mystical garden which sprays prettyful and hypoallergenic pollen.

Coming out of the flower is her faithful spirit kitsune child. This kitsune woman grows spirit kitsunes out of flowers.

Now that the background story is all out, I hope you enjoy this art!

It's also a print and looks adorable on a mug.

Medium used: Acrylic paint on canvas

Awesome shading, must have been tough adding in all that detail with a paintbrush.

altho i would do the outline in marker cuz thats wat my art teacher recomended ^_^ cuz its harder to paint the outline then drew it

CatWoman4ever In reply to cozza1 [2008-07-18 17:31:54 +0000 UTC]

True, but I like the challenge, so I always paint my outlines. The only ones I draw in with marker is the lips, nose, and eyes.

That,my friend, has got to be one of my most favorite of your artworks so far!
The background is simply stunning, complimenting the kitsune woman completely. The pollen adds aa relaxing touch and I gotta say, that's one of the cutest little kitsunes I've ever seen.

good job

got any tips on how to paint?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CatWoman4ever In reply to Boberts-Bud [2008-07-18 02:46:00 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much!

Well, when it comes to painting I have a method. I always start out with the base colors. Using this deviation as an example I lay down a basic green for the grass, pink for flowers, blue for hair, etc. NO shading as of yet.

Also, always remember to determine where the light source is coming from before proceeding.

After that make darker shades of each color. For here on out, while remembering where the light is coming from, keep applying layers of color wherever shadows go and lighter colors for highlights. This base color that was applied first becomes the midtone for the entire piece.

I wait for each layer to dry before coating over. Since acrylic paint is opaque you can always paint a new layer on without the bottom one showing through.

Sorry for the long reply. But hopefully this helped somewhat.
