Description
A new alien character for my Cazador story line. He doesn't have a full backstory yet so any input would be much appreciated. This guy was a doll to draw. I had some issues with colors so I decided to use a makeup color palette which worked out amazingly! I highly recommend looking for colors in places you wouldn't normally look. Make up, I think it was eye shadow, I'm not too certain, provided some very interesting natural skin tones. Here is the first color sketch I did with the palette.Βsta.sh/01tecmn1hpzh

hey there he is! Will chat with ya on what to do with him Caz, but here is one idea, he can be an oil man, well I dunno if you have people use oil in your universe but he can be the equivalent to whatever that is if it isnt oil

As in Petroleum? It would probably be obsolete as a fuel source in a universe where interstellar travel is commonplace, but there probably could be uses in the production of plastics, lubricants, and drugs.

Β I just woke up seeing this earlier so I forgot we didnt even talk what those things could be now that I am back on the art page. So uh, I dunno maybe to what you said, also dunno if new DA is better with notifications but I did not even notice Caz respond to me separate from my comment

Nice job. Makeup was designed for our skin, so perhaps that is why the choice of colour palette came out so well for the skin tone. Based on the title of the linked image, I take it this character probably isn't the nicest person in the galaxy.
His overall appearance leads me to assume he is either an aquatic or amphibious species. The patterns on the skin is similar to some reef dwelling fish. The large jaws and sharp teeth is reminiscent of some deep water dwelling predators. There are even these splotches in the background that look like bubbles, as if the character here is submerged in water.

Haha! He sure isn't going to be nice. I was thinking he is much more reptilian but I'm glad you noticed the patterns on his skin! I did use a reference of a fish for his patterns. I thought it would look more alien since a lot of sea creatures look like they came out of a scifi movie. As for the background, it was just a quick and simple design so it wasn't on a flat boring surface.Β

When you think about it, fish do make a good base for designing aliens, since they do live in an environment that is pretty βalienβ to us. We canβt breath underwater after all.
