Description
This was a fairly epic project I did for Millennium FX a number of years back. Two full size animatronic King Kong heads. One to be installed at Madam Tussauds London and the other New York.
The head in total was 16th high, with a core and skin made from fibreglass and fire retarded moulding latex. The head had full eye ball, eyelid, upper and lower lip and jowl movement. With the addition of air jets in the nose and mouth to create a blast of air to simulate Kongs exhale.
Millennium worked very closely with Engineered Arts on this project. EA was very much responsible for all the amazing tech and animatronic work, whilst Millennium focussed more on the fabrication and aesthetics.

The very talented and wonderful crew involved in creating both these heads was huge. Just to big to start mentioning everyone.
My involvement included assembly, painting and fabrication. I also supervisor the installations in both New York and London in a 2 week window.
Maybe not the most sociable hours to work, but a great chance to get lost in a wax works museum on your own and freak yourself out a little.
