Description An hour study for my study group www.the5-2.tumblr.com >The52.

This week we had to choose a period of art which we were supposed to make a work that best represents that time. I knew bits and pieces of the Pre Raphaelite movement before, but actually sitting down to read about it gave me a lot of insight on why the images have the look they do. I now want to do more reading on different eras. I think the more I know about the art periods that influence me, the more I can develop my won style separate from those heavy influences.

I also want to start making more time for personal work. More of that to come. I just need to remember how to take my time.

Ahhh pre-raphaelism is one of my favorite art movements, together with Impressionism and Art Nouveau. I think you captured well the essence, especially her hair
And yes, you should read more on art eras, Art History is really interesting and knowing the "whys" really helps you get inspired. Perhaps you should take a look at The Story of Art by E. H. Gombrich. It's quite a big book, and the author has a bit of outdated views, but it's overall a really helpful take on the subject ^^

Oh thank you for that! I'll certainly look that up. There seems to be a lot of debate and really heavy opinions about each movement (but I guess like anything else, people hate change). I never came across much art history in school, as our classes were laughable at best, but in this day and age there's little excuse to not search further. God bless the internet UwU.
