Cartoon: Inhumanoids

A blast from the past that few may remember--the cartoon "Inhumanoids" from the mid-late eighties. A late entry into the "Hasbroverse" (also populated by G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Jem), this horror/sci-fi cartoon was edgy and well written for its time, but was probably a little too dark for its target audience and the accompanying toys were just pitiful compared to the coolness of the earlier Hasbro action properties. This is the cartoon's heroine, the wealthy and assertive Sandra Shore, female member of the Earth Corps, a rag tag band of scientists who fight horrible creatures lurking below the surface of the Earth. Sanda was pretty sharp, but she had a little trouble with D. Compose, the rotting dino-zombie whose very touch could turn any lving creature into a monstrosity like himself. Ms. Shore was captured by ol' D. three times in just thrteen episodes, and twice that involved her becoming a giant zombie herself (and he was gonna do it the third time, too). You think she'd have learned by now to keep that helmet on. >Sigh<. Anyway, I was inspired to draw this by a Sketch Jam thread [link] at the Sketch Tavern forums [link] . The theme was "Ladies of the Eighties," and I thought it was high time Sandra got some lovin' other than the giant zombie kind. Ah, Inhumanoids--how I miss you.
