Description I was recently commissioned to draw a mock cover of the DC comic, Suicide Squad . This was rather hard to create because the Squad are always up against so many monstrous fiends. you name it, they fought it. From dinosaurs to whatever!
My original ideas for the cover were between the Squad fighting The Robot Monster or being surrounded by Daleks.

Anyhow ,everything's colored with Prismacolor markers and such.

A COLD WAR SECRET REVEALED!   I had some time and figured this out tonight through careful research and a knowledge of cold war technology gained from watching many spy movies. Why is Karin special? Is she more than eye candy? Why does she historically wear seemingly inappropriate clothing into battle...especially shoes? Is it mere fan service for male readers? NO! I say!

Let us examine the facts using research from the original comics.

Karin Grace (medical professional; possesses ESP,  & Telekinetic powers, expert in the use of many weapons, including micro explosives).

Now supporting research from original comics:

Brave and the Bold comics volume 1: Karin's Shoeless condition is shown in #25 (in only one shoe as she is left stranded at sea on the wing of a plane). Also shown on the covers of issues #26 (shoeless on matchbox, being attacked by seagull at sea after being shrunken down by cosmic rays); 27 (losing her water ski when attacked by sea monster, it's still footwear so we'll count it); 37 (losing right shoe when attacked & grabbed by cyclops), 2nd story (shown losing right show while hanging from dock attacked by dinosaur. Also noteworthy- in story she is seen in flats until they "arm up" to fight dinosaurs-she THEN dons a utility belt and red high heels, And is the first to deploy micro explosives); 38 (lost right shoe and losing left shoe while hanging from statue of liberty); 39 ( missing left shoe while escaping giant crocodile).

Why does Karin do this and why does Flag have her dress this way? Beyond distracting the bad guys, is there a benefit? And who is really in charge? Doesn't flag seem to bodyguard Karin a lot? If so why is she always the first in harm's way? Is she secretly in command? Being a mind-reader she has immediate access to the combined knowledge and consciousness of the group. What is REALLY capable of?

Matt: Perhaps Your picture holds the key. When in battle she invariably drops her shoe when a significant danger presents itself. (seemingly an inconvenience to a damsel in distress...right?) Wrong. My educated guess: Her easily removable, and on a woman in combat, might i say...ignorable (by an engaged enemy anyway) shoes likely contain a weapon of last resort. A carefully placed, powerful explosive capable of destroying anything too big for them to handle with conventional means or her ESP. The obvious drawback is that it would kill them too. Hence is has been placed cleverly by her, perhaps hundreds of times but thankfully never used. She also often apparently retains the other shoe, perhaps as a pointed climbing tool, defensive weapon...or more likely as a secondary explosive.

Note: in other depictions Karin is shown to be seemingly losing, dropping, or even holding her sexy stiletto. Karin's look of shock here may betray the greatest secret of the last century.

Did their foe sense the  danger somehow? The enemy seems to have plucked her shoe prematurely from her ultra-thin-nomex-stockinged foot, and against her will. Could this force her to take drastic action, and detonate?...could this truly be the end of the Suicide Squad?
