Description Soren is one of the main characters in the fantasy novel that I’m working on. It’s kind of in shambles right now and semi-abandoned, but I’m hoping to get back to it as soon as I finish my Master’s program (only a year out! WOOT!)

Soren is a naga, and a member of the warrior clan Na’Seera in the land of Thennis. His people have been at war with the garuda for centuries, the reason for the conflict long-forgotten. War is their culture, and as a result their identities are tied directly to their combat skill. Soren was once one of the most powerful members of his clan, but his many years of endless battle and countless have worn down his soul, thus making him a liability to his people. He is stubborn and can seem cold and apathetic, but is a caring and fierce protector to his friends.

What do the markings mean???

Naga are proud of their resilience, of their ability to hold out against an airborne enemy that has a dozen advantages over them. Their scars are a symbol of great pride, a constant reminder of a moment where their lives should have ended, but did not. It is tradition to paint over their scars to show each other and their enemy that they have been beaten down before, yet they are still fighting. A naga without scars is considered a disappointment, a coward who has not given their blood for their people. Soren does not have this problem
