I had the real blessing of spending last week documenting the progress of some baby hummingbirds. Three Saturdays ago, I spotted what I thought was a wasp hive located on one of the wires in the haunted house that I work at. I didn't bother spraying the hive, since it didn't appear to be active. The next week, I noticed two strange, pointy objects sticking out of the top of the hive. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that said objects were actually the beaks of a pair of baby hummingbirds. Naturally, as a photographer, I felt it necessary to document my find.

A week after my initial discovery of the hummingbirds, I was working in the same area. All day long, the babies watched me, peeping at me every now and again. By that point, they had developed their feathers and spent a good portion of time hanging onto the edge of the nest and exercising their wings.

Two days later, they had flown from the nest, leaving it vacant.
