What if I left today?What if I died tonight?
With no lover left behind,
And no one to remember me
I used to be terrified of what could lie ahead of me.
Of passing away and leaving nothing behind
But now I realize,
If I were to die tonight,
It wouldn't matter if I didn't sculpt the greatest sculpture
Or paint the finest painting
Or write the greatest written work.
If I were to die tonight,
Maybe in this very moment,
As long as I can say,
As long as we could all say,
We've done our best,
And we've stood up for what we believe in,
And we hated as little as possible,
And we've loved all we could,
Then when we pass away,
And say goodbye to this Earth and its troubles,
Then we, then I,
Wouldn't mind it one bit if my book wasn't finished,
If my painting was never completed,
If my sculptor was never seen.
The only thing I can hope to leave behind are my friends,
Because paper burns,
And stone breaks,
And canvases rip.
But friendship and love persist longer than memory.
And that's all I can hope to leave behind.

Hmmm... I see what you mean. Thanks, I can never see what's wrong with my writing, I almost always need someone to critique my work. (Plus, I'm biased. lol) I'll work on it and try to post a better one!
