I drew it in black and white and then played with the selective color tool to add some "warm", then I added some little red touch on a layer in color mode (or maybe it was incrustation, I don't really remember)

I start with grayscales as well :3 however, sadly I don't have photoshop, I'm using gimp for adding colors with a simple "overlay" layer and maybe I can find options to try your technique with the selective color tool ^-^ Thanks for the tip!

I love strawberries, if I had a garden I would probably defend them with a huge kitchen knife as well.
The lighting/shadow is perfect, it adds nicely to the overall impact of the painting. It just says you don't want to be here.

I didn't draw any strawberry on a tree but I guess it can works with a lot of imagination
