Description Yesterday, the reversioned MMPR episode "Switching Places" aired. I'd completely forgotten about that episode, and actually confused it with "Power Ranger Punks". In actuality, it's possibly THE MOST EPIC THING EVER.

Billy and Kimberly switch bodies. So we've got Amy Jo Johnson playing a meek, neurotic nerd, and David Yost playing a conceited, ditzy valley girl. The actors do a hilarious job.

Of course, there are shenanigans. Billy-in-Kimberly makes a perfunctory attempt to dress "like a girl", and as a result, shows up to school with makeup smeared all over his/her face, wearing a purple thermal top that I can't imagine Kimberly even owns, and 90s mom jeans.

His/her personality is also epic. It's like Fran from Jungle Fury on acid.

Kimberly-in-Billy, on the other hand, becomes ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. The dork in overalls turns into a perfectly groomed Ralph Lauren-clad preppy dreamboat. I've always liked the character of Billy, but this was the first time I've ever looked at him and gone, "DAMN, that boy is hot." Makes me wish that after Billy had lost his glasses and gotten more "normal", he'd kept the preppy attire. But, I guess it was the mid 90s, and jeans and tank tops were just more accessible. Shame.

And yes, with the valley girl accent and the girly mannerisms, he turns into Kurt from Glee. And it is AMAZING.

I had to capture it. And it's actually my first actual MMPR fan art in like... years. So YAY!

The other Rangers are shocked, but Jason is also a little... aroused. I SWEAR, that's how he looked in the episode. He's standing there with his sweater tied over his shoulders, leaning against the wall, looking at Billy like "I could totally do Kimberly and Billy at the same time. This is worth investigating."

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The fact that David Yost turned out to be gay makes this kind of a funny aneurysm moment? Or whatever the trope is for "in hindsight, not so funny anymore".
