Yeah GT never had a Manga so it was written for TV so it wasn't thought out very well.

tho i liked how goku was originally based off sun wukong from journey to the east. a lot of the things out of dragon ball are from that story the. like the burning mountain the iron fan that puts out any flame the flying nimbus cloud the power pole is nearly a match for the sea needle used by Sun wukong and lot of the myths in DB are from it even princess snake in dbz is from chines/Japaneses folk lore.

Yeah a lot of DB was based on Saiyuki. Oh and it' west, Journey to the West. DBZ is when it gets original.

lol yeah and Saiyuki was the name of the anime i watched a live action in sub titles of the story long as hell to watch but vary funny and lots of hot Asian girls.
