Awesome and congrat on your first dev. I like these marvelous vivid green very much and also the stripes and the detailed texture of the fur. And the eyes are stunning! As I read in your deviantID you're a self taught artist (like me) and you would like to have any tips, I'd love to try it, (English is not my mother tongue). Try to work some more with light and shadow with gradual brightness change to give the Tigers more three-dimensionality. Maybe you can shade more his belly.

How did you do this texture of fur? I really like it.

Ok well, I basically started by colouring the tiger in a dark green, Then on a new layer I picked a slightly lighter green and I used a very small brush (1px) and stroked each individual hair.

Repeat that step a few times (making a new layer, using a small brush stroke in each hair, use lighter and lighter tones of the colour you are using)Don't go too light! keep repeating until you reach the colour you want.

Then I do the shading and the highlights on new layers, stroking highlights and shading on to some of the individual hairs.

This is very time consuming but I think it's well worth it in the end. I know there are probably other easier ways of doing this but this is just the way that works for me.
You should look at some fur tutorials, they explain it much better than I just did, and practice, practice, practice!! You'll soon find a way that works for you!

lol, I'm sure you can find a better explanation then that, but I tried, I just hope it wasn't too confusing, I barely understood it myself!

Nice job! And Congrats on your first deviation

As a critique, I'd like to say that the grey/silver fur on the nose could be a little smoother in transition to the green (unless that was intentional, in which case ignore this) Some blurring or gradual color change might help. And also maybe a bit more shading near the head/neck to separate it from the body to prevent it from looking flat.

Otherwise, excellent work!

Why thank you I totally understand what you are saying about shading around the neck, I actually didn't think of that, so, thank you! As for the fur on the nose it wasn't intentional, I did notice it, I just didn't know how to make it smoother. I'm new to GIMP and digital drawing in general, so all the tools at my disposal is a bit daunting! I'm always afraid I'll just mess my pictures up!

Anywho thanks so much for your help! I will most definitely be keeping it in mind for my next picture!!

I know what you mean about GIMP, I've been using it for a little over a year, and I still can't fully utilize every tool x3

Happy to help
