how did you learn to draw so well?

my god!!! thanks for the compliment!! haha well when I was younger I used to copy all my fav characters, and I was every day drawing, no matter if the proportions were bad, or the drawing itself had no concept in it. Of course, I studied Fine Arts in Highschool and college.
But I think the most important thing to improve in art is just to study your favourite artists and think: "why do I like their drawings?" "it is because of the colors, their style, the composition of the image?" and then practice using references from your photos, magazines, architecture, etc. Copy and add your personal touch! I would even recommend you tracing perspectives, human figure, etc, to start memorizing forms and getting more drawing skills, but dont forget to add something of your own, or mix artistic resources from other artists, be creative!

But would you say technique is more important than style?

Mmmm good question. For some artists, they're so tremendously skilled that this could become their art style, and be recognized for that. For others, their style is so unique that it doesnt matter that they don't have what we call "drawing skills", because they use other artistic elements like the context, a singular way to use the colors, a message, etc.
Is technique more important than style? For me, it depends: In a natural science book with illustrations, is more important to be skilled and draw a good representation of the reality than having a personal style. The illustrations in a music CD, for example, for me could be more important to have a very personal and shocking style, and catch the costumer's view. So these kind of things are, in my opinion, very subjective.
The ideal could be having a style with the required skills that gets adapted to the message or the content you want to transmit with your illustrations, but I think that's just very difficult XD so, in conclusion, I think they're equally important
