It's definitely the same thing if no one gets to appreciate the art at full detail without obstructions. It's just wasted talent if everyone comes to say "this gud art" and forget about it for the rest of their lives. I normally download full sized images for personal entertainment so this comes off worse to me.
It irritates me when the so called "critics" sometimes neglect these details and give high ratings to pictures for ants with annoying unnatural decals on them.

The decals are not meant to be noticed. Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you are unable to look over a precaution the artist takes in protecting their livelihood, then you really have no say in the matter. Artists don't do everything for your "personal entertainment." They do it for themselves, and you comment comes off as super selfish.

For the love of god just look at her face, it's almost right in the middle of it, you think I'm the one being selfish here? I'm trying to save this picture from going into oblivion, if you had your own folder in your pc with only your favourite pictures would you put this in it? There still has to be a better way to protect these works.

You may have probably seen entire galleries wiped out from Deviantart with no explanation (or artists who just decided to delete their galleries/deactivate accounts probably for the worst) and thank godblessed bronies for backing up most of these works to derpibooru.

I don't see any obvious flaws in this deviantart system, really.

When an artist deactivates, and takes their art with them, it is typically because of personal reasons. And, usually, they don't want their artwork to be seen anymore anyway. So, "bronies" who "back up" artwork onto other websites without permission are exploiting the original creator and are, in fact, being assholes.

If I had a folder with all my favorite pictures (which I do, actually), this would still be included. Because unlike you, I am not an immature kiddo who can't handle a transparent water mark. Christ almighty.

I see plenty of reasons why someone would watermark. Recolors are absolutely rampant amongst fandoms. Do you know how many stolen characters I have seen? Especially on sites like photo bucket and Pinterest? Even here for gods sake! A lot. Too many. So, seriously. Stop bitching. This picture wasn't made for you, or for any kind of personal use. It's the creator's right to do what they can to protect what's their's. You're lucky this was submitted at all.

Look at it, appreciate it, and move on.

You obviously have no passion for this, just forget about deactivated accounts and go on with your life, do not even fight for the posteriority of the artists that deserve it even against their will. I wasn't even complaining about having watermarks but the automated ones from deviantart are not even made by the artist himself so that's why it looks so out of place to me where it shouldn't be.

Also, posteriority...I think you may need to look up what that word means. Because it definitely doesn't mean what you think it does.

That artist took that work down for their own reasons. Maybe they were unhappy with it, or it brought unwanted attention, or any other possible reason that has nothing to do with anyone viewing the work. It doesn't belong to anyone but the artist, and whoever posted that again without permission should be ashamed.

The DA water mark is available to those who don't want to make their own to save time. No one cares what you think, this conversation is over. Cry harder.

I think I got pretty close "The condition of being posterior in location or time." I wasn't born in Uncle Sam territory.

I asked this artist called SugarBerry3693 (now SugarBerryArt) if she could upload to DA some pictures she made exclusively in her Tumblr, she would refuse to do it because she thought those weren't good enough, as a result they become stuck in the tumblr system where you could accidentally download lower resolution pictures with RNG names and people paid less attention to exceptional drawings (some between comics), not the best system compared to Deviantart. You did not just tell the people on derpibooru to feel ashamed, maybe artists on DeviantArt get tired of attention, having to reply comments, etc. but that doesn't mean taking their unique works with them forever. Maybe just disabling comments would do the trick but nothing so drastic.

In my opinion that just seems lazy or they don't care enough to add a handmade one.

Hope I make better use of it in the future, who knows, maybe your gallery doesn't get deleted like many others. Have a good day, artists are sacred to me.
