The bold splashes of color truly make the figure more striking, yet organic. It helps meld her better with the earth and surrounding imagery.
The dark blue in the upper-right corner seems uneeded. Almost too heavy and distracting. It clashes with the swirls of the sky.
Overall though, the piece is very strong. I hope you suceed in the contest!

I agree with the dark blue. Its actually a remnant of the original sky color.
I frequently use Corel Painter but this was done in ArtRage2.
