Sorry to be late,
this is pretty awesome! Good job on the shadowing and light. But, I think it could be pushed even a bit further! (Or at least in a future artwork, no need to actually make these changes since this is like, you know, a while back.) -- By looking at your older work I see that you did really try to open up and use more color in the shadows than keeping everything neutral gray-ish. Good job on that, it's a first step!
I'd have made the walls a little bit brighter though, to increase the contrast and really make the feeling of light pop like a photo. While the shadow in the distance and at the rear of the door way should be blue as you have it here, the shadow up to the closest edge to us should be graded to become a little warmer in tone, and even a little lighter. This is caused from the reflected light of the opposite wall and ground shining up and illuminating some of the interior of this corridor.
Lastly, contrast can be a major assistance to your center of focus. The yellow lines help keep our eyes centered on the girl, but something even better is if the shadow cast by the building didn't go so far as to the far distant wall. If the far wall were lit up in sunlight, with the girl in the shadow, we'd have the strongest change in contrast RIGHT at her upper torso/head. That'd make for a strong and attractive silhouette!
Keep it up!
-- Also just read you did this with a mouse. Geez, that's amazing. GET ONE, even a $40 Monoprice tablet if you can't afford a wacom, I'd love to see what you can do then!

Wow, thanks for taking the time to comment on this! I... er, am obviously rather late with my reply, sorry about that.
Thanks a bunch for the tips, too. I'm still a bit scared of color, which is part of why I love your work so much. I'll definitely keep all of this in mind for my next piece, especially the stuff about contrast.
And actually it wasn't done with a mouse! My tablet just happened to break the day after I was done with this artwork, ha ha. I've got a new one now, so all is good.
And just... thanks again for the comment, your artwork is really inspiring to me!

sweet... As soon as I saw this, I thought of that artist you showed me. The guy who did the subway scenes right? I love the keyed up color in your shadows. I think the bag is especially striking. Haha nice spread-out toes XD

Yeah, I wanted to try and mimic him a lot. Glad it made you think of him, means I did something a little bit right then XD

I really like that you used colors to do the shading, it makes it more interesting to look at. 83
