True, wouldn't look so good with a square format. And new (new to you) programs can mess things up pretty badly...

Accidents happen...
I have two things to critizise here: firstly there are halos around the shoes (to much fill light?) and secondly the whole upper part of the picture doesn't add anything to it and therefore could be cut away. Doesn't spoil the picture, it's just obsolete.

I'm not sure what's with the shoes, I guess it was just a stupid mistake I hadn't noticed. I was playing around with the settings on a new image editing program, and I guess I hadn't discovered all it's little quirks yet.
I do agree that the upper part could be cut out, but to me the picture looked to square once the top was cut out, but maybe that's just me, I dunno.

What a unique perspective from which to tell this particular story. Very clever. It gives you the impression that you are the person who has happened upon this grisly discovery... and find yourself wondering why the foreground is in focus and the distant consequence is out of focus. For me that works well, not only because it's more tasteful, but also because it sort of captures the exact moment that the mind is trying to put together the pieces and find meaning in what it's seeing. Bravo!

It was my initial reaction. I'm not sure yet how I really feel about it. Purely, as photography and art, it grabs your attention and tells quite a story. You are obviously very talented.
