Description Not far from where I live there stands the ruins of the old Neath Abbey. It was founded in 1130 by Norman knight Sir Richard de Granville, by the late 13th century it had become one of Wales's wealthiest abbeys. Monks and coal miners lived there for a while before the industry started to boom, and after its use it became derelict and fell beyond repair.

Despite being half a structure, when stood there you can appreciate how vast and outstanding this building would have been. If you're a history buff like me you'd appreciate its story even more. It's one of those places that makes me proud to be welsh and proud of the infamous little town I come from.
