I forced myself to make a head canon this week! AND THIS CAME OUT OF MY BRAIN!Growing up, Lin never had to face the ‘boogyman’ or any other mythical creatures. No, her mother always tried to scare her with the infamous “Melon Lord” act. This tactic usually did work in scaring her daughter in doing her chores and eating her vegetables. It was ‘sweet’ for Toph.
But eventually this ‘melon lord’ effect started wearing off Lin, mainly because Toph kept grabbing the wrong fruit…
I wonder if I can crank out more head canons…

Indeed, the first series, "The Promise," did the most setup. Basically, after the series, Zuko ordered all Fire Nations citizens out of the Earth Colonies. Only to realize that, since the war has been going on for 100 years, some of the "Colonies" were well-established cites. And the families of the two nations were pretty intermixed. He actually faced an assassination attempts from an Earthbender who was the daughter of a colony governor. Short version: after some needless conflict it was agreed the Colonies would become a separate nation - neither Fire nor Earth. That became the foundation of Republic City.
