Classic Harley is *probably* my favorite cartoon/comic book character to date. She's been getting mishandled (and miswardrobed) a lot lately, but she's still near & dear to my heart whenever I think of the old Batman The Animated Series.

I actually don't mind the change much. Don't hate it, don't love it. Either suit her I suppose, but the first is more fun/badass in design ( but it would be hard as hell to get that on and off though... especially to go to the bathroom, if you ever wear really tight onzies you'll feel my pain, like wetsuits, one piece bathing suits and leotards)... Though I haven't seen much of her since Arkham City (I did see the trailer for Suicide Squad, looked pretty much the same as City as far as Harley's Design).
I mostly mean her story and personality are great and depressing. Great sense of humor but good lord she really needs to get a clue about the Joker.

I had to wear a onesie when flying C-130's in Kodiak, they're a hassle in just about every situation. I always figured if the cartoon were adapted to real life it'd be a form-fitting outfit just the same, but it would be a full top attached to a full bottom via snaps or something of the like. Nobody wants to wear a onesie.
I understand why people like the nurse & new 52 Harley, they're aesthetically drool-worthy. But all the same I don't like when they abandon the basics of the original look for the cheap pop of "sex sells". There's plenty sensual about Harley w/out slutting her up, and her innate innocence in contrast to the Joker really made that dynamic pop fo rme.
I can see why she'd be perceived as depressing, but no more so than any Shakespearean tragedy or good Haunted House story. Tragic circumstance breeds great storytelling. And in her case, the fact that she's a brilliant psychiatrist turned absolutely physically and mentally capable career-criminal, and despite all that she's helplessly and overwhelmingly in love with an absolute monster because of elements in him that only *she* sees... that's what makes that story brilliant. It makes you wonder/imagine what those elements in their relationship are that keep the two yoked to one another. Later on in the comics/games they effectively muddy that relationship and make it a bit more realistic on the abuse side of things, and I can see why they go there. But I'll always be a fan of the original Harley/Joker persona.

Agreed. Badass! Learning to fly planes sounds so fun. Though that plane seems heavy duty... You in the Army? Or something. Though if your speaking of Kodiak, Alaska, I could see a reason to use one regardless.
Oh yeah! I totally get that. That does annoy me, I just wasn't thinking about those ones. And it does really bother me that this happens so much, but that's modern marketing I guess (even if it makes me feel weird... they do know women read these too right? I mean it doesn't kill me and I get it "sex sells" but I get I little uncomfortable at times). That and yeah it really does fit her personality better in the original.
Yeah I agree. I mean she's still one of my fav characters, but I find it less "depressing" and more.. Just feeling really sorry and kinda frustrated with her. Though the Joker baited her really good. Yes it does tragedy is great for great drama, probably why you see it everywhere in literature. Sadly what she "sees" in the Joker I don't think actually exists, but she wants it to, which is also sad. And the Joker just doesn't really ever seem interested in her except to use her. Very tragic. I suppose that's up for debate. Yeah I think the original animated series also really pointed to an unrequited love as well. But I guess it was just so well written that people see different things.

U.S. Coast Guard, and yeah that was the only place I flew/wore the onesie. Glad to say I wear a real work uniform at my other units :-P
