Thank you so much It's not supposed to convey a nice emotion, though - it's depicting a "Victorian Nightmare" as the contest demanded. I tried to make it look like he had left her violated inside the painting.

Sadly & beautifully dark

it speaks of love denied, love rebuffed
or perhaps just the death, death of love and the pain.
(I suppose it depends on were he is and how you interpret his looking away)

Well she has just been abused by the man in the hat and he is leaving the scene of the *crime*... stepping out of the frame.

oh that is very dark indeed
unfortunately far too often in real life thats the case

love as beauty, not the terrible nightmare it can be sometimes twisted to
