While Anna had not gotten me into serious trouble with her death roll, she had gained control of me and secured another two points. I had escaped once so far, I figured I could do it again. I struggled to my feet, but Anna maintained control and drove us out of bounds toward her bench. I feared falling off the elevated platform, thankfully one of our other part time assistant coaches was there to slow our momentum.
“Great job, Anna” coach Saunders said, clapping her hands as we got to our feet and returned to the center of the mat. I tended to block out coach’s instructions during a match, but I could use a tip or two from coach Saunders right now.
