Not to be confused with sword worn by Seafolk warriors. Though those are replicas of the original, however only the Seafolk Fleet Commander wears the original. Long ago when there were no Seafolk just men on shoddy boats trying to catch fish, a Dryad fell in love with one of them. Their love grew more and more and at last the man asked for the Dryad's hand in marriage. Using her power she brought him to her father so he could ask permission. Overjoyed his daughter found love the Sea King gave his new son-in-law dominion over the water. When their first generation of children, the first Seafolk were born it was twins, a boy and a girl. To the girl the Sea King gave wisdom to understand the wind and read the water, and magic to compel them both. To the boy the Sea King gave Wavecutter, the first ship built for speed and war. Upon that ship the boy found a sword, also called Wavecutter. Together, each with their roles to fulfill the twins established the roles of men and women within the Seafolk culture.

Only a direct descendant of the original Captain of the Wavecutter may command her. No crew is necessary if you possess the sword as well.
