I had this idea after watching Frozen yesterday. Yeah, I'm weird.
Also I know I didn't cover the fact that Hans has red hair and pale skin, but I do want to mention a little thing called recessive genes. Just because you don't see either Rapunzel or Eugene with red hair or pale skin doesn't mean they don't have those genes somewhere in their bloodline. I mean, I know someone and neither of their parents have blue eyes (they have green and hazel eyes) yet this person has bright blue eyes. It's because her grandmother had blue eyes and she picked up on that gene. Who's to say it isn't possible?
Other than Disney in the last panel, of course.

This theory COULD work!
Firstly, time travel! Not sure HOW Hans could time travel... either he was born with it like Elsa was with ice or he found some artifact or something :/
Also, the whole '12 older brothers' thing, well, he COULD be lying to inspire sympathy in Anna! Though him having older siblings isn't out of the realm of possibility, 12 is a bit much ^^''
If Hans went back in time to cause the events at Elsa's coronation because he HAS to, it also explains his rapidly-changing moods and motivations, if he was acting and just filling a role!
It makes slightly more sense if it is a destined event, and he HAS to go back to fulfil it of a paradox could occur!

Good theory, but there are a lot of holes in it. Hans has 12 other brothers (him being the 13th). He is also a military general.Β
Elsa and Anna's parents were shown to go out somewhere for two weeks. Though it was not said where they were going, it's very heavily hinted that it might have been Rapunzel and Eugene's wedding (since the time period of the movie "Rapunzel" took place before Frozen AND because Eugene and Rapunzel were shown at Arendalle later on... Confirming that they are close kingdoms.). But since they both never returned (pronounced dead), Rapunzel and Eugene took it to themselves to show up for Elsa's coronation to pay their respects. Rapunzel's mother also resembles Elsa and Anna's mother a whole lot. They actually might be related to each other (explaining why both mothers have daughters both born with magical powers).
Nice theory, but this theory is impossible. There is no way Hans could be Rapunzel's child.Β

Given how interrelated real European royalty was, it's not hard to imagine that Hans would be related to Rapunzel.

I actually find your theory really intriguing, but I find it more realistic that Hans and Flynn are brothers, here's why :Β
So my niece and I saw this post earlier today and seeing the similarities between Flynn & Hans, she decided it was perfectly possible to assume that they could be brothers. Not much is said about Hansβ family and past except that he is one of 14 boys (he has 13 brothers) and that he is Prince of the Southern Isles. Though Flynn was in an orphanage as he grew upβit could be possible that he is actually a brother of Hans. See, Frozen is set in Arendelle which is based off of a town in Norway. Tangled is based out of Germany. If you look at a map of this region, you can see that Germany is south of Norway. If Hans travelled from Germany to Arendelle it would make sense for his title to be Prince of the Southern Isles.Β
Not only this, but since Flynn grew up in an orphanage, it is particularly odd to think, βWell, if Hans had so many brothers, why would his parents put one up for adoption or leave him stranded?β Actually, Flynn never knew his parents. It is possible that his parents were killed via angry villagers trying to cause a kingdom downfall while he was younger (allowing him to forget he knew them through repressed memories), leaving him in an orphanage to grow up while Hans (guessing heβs an older brother) did whatever he needed to survive a few years and then, in Arendelle, tries to trick Ana into marrying him so he can take the throne taking place after Flynn meets Rapunzel.Β
Flynn is also described as βcocky, arrogant, a little self-centered and concerned with money and wealth.β If he was part of such a rich and large family: it would explain his obsession with wealth, Rapunzelβs tiara, and his self-centeredness could easily be explained away by being one among 14 boys. Wouldnβt you want things to be about you if you had 13 brothers? It was most likely almost never just about him. All his brothersβ opinions and decisions would overpower his. Considering the fact that Flynn (aka Eugene Fitzherbert) has a different last name from Hans Westerguard, it is as simple as imagining the orphanage changed Eugeneβs name to keep him safe from harm. Seeing the connection between the two characters, it also explains why Flynn and Rapunzel would appear at Elsaβs coronation in Frozen which is right where Hans makes his move on Ana.Β
Flynn could either be trying to stop his older brother seeing as he has married into royalty already, it could be completely coincidental, or he could be there to help trick Ana. This actually makes a lot of sense. If there was a revolution in the Southern Isles and the royal family is about to be overthrown, it's not difficult to imagine that his parents would leave their baby son at an orphanage so he'd have a chance at surviving (and carrying on the royal line) in the case that his parents and brothers were all killed in the revolution. Since he was a baby he wouldn't have remembered his parents, and they changed his name to protect him. Etymologically, "Fitz" means "illegitimate child"; Henry VIII had an illegitimate son named Henry Fitzroy β "illegitimate child of royalty".

This is a very interesting theory. In some ways it makes a lot of sense. In fact I might have to write a one-shot based off of this if that's alright because it DOES make sense. Although I do have to point out Hans is the youngest of the 13 Westerguards. So Flynn would be the older brother.

Well, Disney company said that Rapunzel being Anna and Elsa's cousin, the reason why their parents where even in that ship is to attend the wedding of Eugene and Rapunzel, and the cameo is them visiting their cousins.

I agree but how do you explain his many big brothers? Would Eugene and Rapunzel seriously consider having that many kids? I don't know, but out seems a little out if character for them to have that many kids. Just saying.

And plus Anna and Elsa were quite young, 18 and 15, when their parents went to see Rapunzel's and Eugene's wedding so there's a time problem, Rapunzel being maybe 21 when she married Eugene. So following that, when Elsa was 21 for her coorenation Rapunzel was 24. Β This is creative, though. If there wasn't a timeline problem this could've really worked.Β

The whole Tangled story line revolve around a flower that SLOW AGING!! I mean Rapunzel live with like the eternal elixir forever before she gave it all to Eugene. I mean look at Rapunzel mom. She had like a vial of that and looked like she could be Rapunzel younger sister ( if it wasn't for the white in her hair.) So yeah headcanon for reals.

That doesn't necessarily blow your theory out of the water. The only time we see them is at the gate going in.
Hans could have been with them, just coming later. he was headed towards the gate when he bumped into Anna. And since we don't see them again, its possible they left right before or right after the actual coronation ceremony, and Hans stayed behind, since he is old enough to do so

they have said that hans is around 21 in the movie, and rapunzel was turning 18 in the movie, and it doesnt seem like she have grown that much, so i dont think she can have had 13 sons and the youngest one is 21. Its a creative theory though!
