Description Well, I decided to colour both versions after all. It's not something I'll be doing again any time soon. This is the MDG Culverin with weapons stored. The weapons deployed version can be found here - [link]

I hope to start working on the wallpaper soon so as to keep with the rest of the MDG series. The WIP name/class of the Culverin is a Multi-Limb Battleship. Similar to a Mobile Armour from Gundam, the Culverin is much larger in size to other mecha like the Phantom [link] or Archer [link] & would sport a name similar to a ship. While more than a match for any mech already in survice, the primary role of this particular design is to hide amongst asteroid or debris fields and attack shipping lines, base ships & other larger support craft, similar to a WWII submarine. Most space bound mecha launch from and require base ships where as the Culverin is a ship onto itself despite it's appearances.

It sounds like Culverin is a little more like the early Mobile Armors from UC Gundam. Big, and really good at causing mayhem.

Where do you get your talent? Your awesome skill? THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!!!!!"pant pant pant"
Side note: your work has been a great inspiration to me. Using a similar (Not Identical!) style I have been doing some mechs of my own, which shall soon be unleashed to terrorize the puny residents of Deviant Art! MUAHUAHUAHUAHUA!!!

Now that is not only a great compliment but one of the best I've recieved. A long time ago it was a dream of mine to become like my mecha idol "Shรดji Kawamori" and create my own series and style of mecha in the hopes of maybe becoming an insperation to someone so thank you for helping me along that path : )

As for your mecha, I look forward to seeing them. I am very curious to see something my work has inspired : )

Looks good, real good. I just can't wait for the wallpaper. And now I'm working out which of the two I like more...with or withour the guns, you can make life really complicated you know that

Interesting. Was the texture you put on the armour plating for aesthetics, or is it part of the design?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CGVickers In reply to teraissa [2007-04-03 23:02:54 +0000 UTC]

If you're asking about the spongy grey, it was a camo I made in an attempt to look like volcanic rock. The idea being to blend in with asteroids or debris fields. The camo is hard to see due to the sheer size of this design and that the original image is 4 times the size. That is if I'm answering the right part of your question : )

STTestament [2007-04-01 10:31:33 +0000 UTC]

I think it resembles Patlabor and ZOE designs a lot. I'm sure that if it was painted black & white it would pass as an Ingram

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CGVickers In reply to STTestament [2007-04-02 00:53:35 +0000 UTC]

I love ZOE but the similrities are accidental. If you look at my other designs, the legs in particular is very similar though I decided last moment to omit it considering it makes more sence in a space design. As for the Patlabor look, I get that a lot with my designs which I'm sure is because of the joint coverings

CGVickers In reply to CGVickers [2007-04-02 12:51:56 +0000 UTC]

No prob : ) At some point I plan on working out the specific measuremeants but for the mos part, my mech designs fit into the gundam scale. The Archer is roughly the height of a Dom, the Phantom's height is about the size of a Gundam and this design (Cuverin) is roughly the size of a mobile armor sitting at about 90ft aprox 3 times the size of the Phantom. I'm actually planning a scale chart at some point to give a rough idea as to the size of all my designs in the Project Misha world

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

STTestament In reply to CGVickers [2007-04-02 08:06:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I suppose so. It's just that one usually goes "ZOE!" at the sight of feet-less legs xD

By the way, mind giving some dimensions for the mecha? I cannot tell if it's gundam-class or patlabor-class... it's always interesting to have varying mecha sizes, it adds to the awesomeness

it's cool to see both the "resting" and "locked on" poses of the mech. helps us understand how these guys move and work.
i'm not sure how the feet work, though. does it hover with jets or is it not made for land use?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CGVickers In reply to fyrenwater [2007-03-30 00:19:46 +0000 UTC]

This thing is designed for space use only though there is a retractable foot thats purpose is basically landing gear.
