Personally, I hated the show Doug, because I had enough other shows to torture me, and didn't need anymore. But if they'd modeled Doug like this, acting exactly like the Nostalgia Critique, now THAT would be a show I'd watch.

Besides, I'm sure many of us had those franchise characters that happened to have the same names as us that our peers mocked us for. Mine was "Tony the Tiger."
