Have you seen the more recent depictions of the Krampus? such as the appearances on "American Dad" and "Grimm"?

If you want a movie that holds some truth to the Krampus, I recommend the Finnish film; "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale". Granted he is mistakenly referred in the movie as "the original Santa", but I feel the depiction and flow of the movie is really good and is one of the few good Christmas horror movies. If you're interested, it's on Netflix.

Saw your video and loved it. I remember how Santa used to visit my elementary school; would've been awesome if Krampus came along too. Horrifyingly scary, yes, but it would've made for a good memory.
Heh, maybe the Grinch is the Krampus of Whoville. After all, there IS a Mt. Krampus in that story.

Remind me of Dominican Republic. People dress up as devils in February and beat up people.

I know but in my counrty we have a similar celebration called "El Caranval". People dress in colorful costume, usualy devils, and beat others others up with ballon shaped objects.

The film syn-op said that those were his elves and they didn't have horns. So it's a killer santa movie.
But still thanks for pointing that out to me.

Cool, if you'r looking for scary christmas mythical creatures you should look up the Yule cat (also known as Christmas cat), GrΓ½la and LeppalΓΊΓ°i, also the Yule lads (Icelandic santas), in the old days, before the fat jolly coca-cola Santa, the Yule Lads were evil, pranksters raised by man eating troll called GrΓ½la, GrΓ½la is known to eat naughty children, her pet Yule cat is huge black mythical cat that eats children that did not get new clothes for the holidays.
after the Jolly good santa came to be the Yule lads changes from evil to good, coming one by one into town and giving children small gifts in there shoes or socks that had been hanged or put in the window. The Yule lads are commonly known to be 13, all males, there are stories about more Icelandic santas but lets not confuse you too much.
Examples of the Yule lads are; Spoon-Licker, Door-Slammer, Window-Peeper, Meat-Hook, Stubby and, my personal favorite, Candle-Beggar

Between you and the latest issue of Rue Morgue, I'm glad to see more and more of the Krampus. Hell, I've created a Krampus character. Though not evil, he's still not very nice (I took the point of view of his kind as more of the teacher who wishes that they were still allowed corporal punishment in schools).

thanks CR for giving me an awesome bit of Christmas history. When I have kids I going to tell them:
"but, if you're naughty Santa will get his good friend the Krampus and send you to hell where you will be forced to listen to 1960s hipee music for all eternity."

Oh, by the way, suggestion for a future Familair Faces. Since you just did Battletoads, how about another video game serie that we don't see anymore: Jazz Jackrabbit (A CR version of the princess would be terrific^^)
