Description The only thing absent from my life on an evening like this is someone I can share it with, be that "a boy" or Stephanie. There's so many boys at rowing whose company I always enjoyed, yet I'd never consider letting any of them beyond friends - not as if they'd try. I love having boys for friends. It's so much more rowdy and fun.
Saw one of the graduated rowers here, of all places, just yesterday when we were in Grand Bend with the cousins. She said she might not row in college because of a back injury she's had since before the summer season began, and I realized then how much I miss rowing at home with all those familiar people. Rowers I can't stand, rowers I idolize - I long for every last one of them.
And I returned to Grosse Pointe for a day last week, on my grandma's birthday. Saw another former senior there who also rowed, albeit just for a moment as we drove past and I glimpsed him on the sidewalk. One of the seniors I'll miss most of all.

Kastner.

Odd how a sunset as beautiful as this can bring emotions so wholly unrelated.

I suppose you have a good point there. Beautiful things are so entirely worth it for the feelings that come with them. Thanks for the comment, too.
