Mag'lor Tasarti ... means "Black Magic" according to this random elf-name thingie I found.Anywho, was bored and couldn't sleep. Couldn't think of any worthy RP replies, my book is over, *makes note to purchase a new one tomorrow * was sick of sewing on my Shugo-plushie for today, so I unburied my wacom tablet and pulled this picture outta me bum. I can't draw wings very well on a tablet. Should've put it on paper first. Oh well.
I'm thinking on developing this dude as a possible RP character. I've become involved w/ the GG again and I decided I needed a gryph character w/ some muscle.
roughly 4 & 1/2 hrs spent w/ Photoshop 4

Bottom jaw/part of the beak looks a little off to me, though.

It's the lighting that perhaps makes it look off. That and I stuck out his tongue. But I'm pretty sure that is how the bottom jaw on a bird of prey is designed. I've watched hawks at the zoo, and through binoculars from horseback. Here's a random ref I found for ya [link]

Really Chako, I'm not a gigantic Gryphon fanatic, but this is awe-inspiring
This seriously looks cool on all levels, coloring, lighting, and the glowy lineart of the gryph itself.
I'm sorta getting the same vibe Genesis-Orbit was mentioning. Only I'm recognizing it's not really that the all the colors are inversed, it's just that the lines are neon-like. Neat effect.
I'd have to say you're darn good when armed with a Wacom

Say you can't draw with a tablet? Maybe it's the awesome coloring that hides that fact, or it could be as simple as you're better at drawing digitally than you think
Cause, really, this is a very cool pic.
The way you used only different shades of blue and purple is very effective in creating a dark atmosphere.
Making the outlines almost white makes it look very realistic lightning-wise.
I like the face and beak the most, it's just perfect. The wings are very well done as well, the feather texture is realistic.
A very realistic pic in overall, one of your best I think.

Yeah, it was hard drawing all the feathers how they should've been. That's why I totally cropped off the end of that one wing. My brain can't see them right it I'm not drawing them on paper where I can physically turn it how I need to. Something 'bout that whole hand/eye coordination thing. Thanks! I'm glad think it turned out.

Quick and loose it may be, but the color scheme is just faboo! I really like the multiple sources of illumination and the cool, dark colors. And the feathers... Those flight feathers just rock my socks.
