The subjects are very interesting; on one side an old tree, and on the other an old man. Both have seen MANY years of life, the tree more of course But to me the composition is the brilliant part: the curve of the tree and the man's slumped posture with his feet sticking slight upwards, creates such smooth flow from one to the other, it draws the viewer's attention in a circular motion. A cycle of life perhaps; the man bows to the tree, recognizing nature outlasts all things human. At the same time, the tree recognizes a new generation will come along, for nature to invite into its wonders.
Initially, I was going to comment merely to ask if you chose the title based on the Last Samurai soundtrack, in which the last track shares the name. But I believe in thoughtful comments, and I discovered far more than I expected. Bravo!

The sidewalk is kind of blown out, but it works for this photo especially how the man and the tree are in great contrast. Nice shot.

Very nice composition and shadow/light contrast; i could look at it for hours and still feel captivated by this shot; love the man's pose and the background.

this is really nice. good composition, with the man framed nicely with the dark area. one thing i noticed is, the highlights could be a bit better. i mean it's good to overexpose it, but i think it would've been nice if it was stopped down a bit. but either way still very nice!

Siluette, I love this kind of composition, and it fits in to the environment. Was it a planned picture, or was it just there in the right moment?
