Thanks to this deviation , I had a new headcanon... and a drawing of Venus running around. Far be it for me to not exploit the assets that I have by adding more to it.
At this point, I already have it in my head that Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is a show within the Sailor Moon universe, much like the Sailor V anime had been.
And Minako has been watching it.
This doesn't bode well for Rei. Nyehehehe.

for some reason the last panel makes me think of Sailor Moon Abridged... probably because they made Venus really dumb

They're all complex... but compared to the proper Japanese, Venus was more ditzy in the DiC dub... and the SMA crew took that up to eleven.

Ok, I was about to say that there was one redeeming feature to the DiC dub... but I can't think of one.

Oh wait, now I remember.
The one redeeming feature of the DiC dub is that it did have some nice music - "My Only Love" in the episode where Usagi finds out that Mamoru is Tuxedo Kamen and she's the Moon Princess, and "Rainy Day Man" during Makoto's flashback in episode 49 (43 of the dub) are ones that I really like. Also "Power of Love", which iirc was used for the final battle in the Black Moon arc.
Seriously though, Sailor Moon Abridged is fun. It mocks the DiC dub mercilessly even as it takes the characters in totally different directions. Episode 7 (the introduction of Sailor Mars) has to be heard to be believed.

normal Sonic doesn't run like that though... at least not in the old games. He does it as Super Sonic in all the Mega Drive/Genesis games
