*WrensthavAviovus 's request, Tomo and Wrens. Fighting, as it happens! I wonder how that came about...I got carried away with the background, but it was so much fun - I thought up a new shading technique to try, it works much better for changing details.
There's still plenty of loose ends and a few lighting issues but I like it this way.
And a couple of sketch mistakes but since this is from scratch in Photoshop, I can live with it.That's Seiromem in the background by the way, or how I picture it - I just wanted to try drawing it, ahaha. There's really not much story behind this image.

I'm in your gallery, critiquing your art!
Very solid lines and great colouring. I'm not too fond of Wrens' pose but otherwise this is great! Though I guess Wrens' could just be drawing his weapons in preparation for the fight. I'm also liking your backgrounds a lot! (even though you probably only spent like 20 minutes on them)

No I don't like Wrens' pose either... but I'd already wasted an hour or two trying to fix it, so I decided to stick with what I had. You win some, you lose some.
Hey that background took a whole 25 minutes! Nah, more like an hour and a half. Good times.

Yes, it's an energy discharge. That stuff is hard to control... if Tomo's doing a big shapeshift/ using a lot of energy, the leftover glow there would be quite small.
Here he's probably healing something little so there's a lot of power he's not using - it burns off like that and goes back to where it came from.

Two more Tomo questions:
So the amount of energy used is the same all the time, and what's left ends up making the key glow?
When Tomo talks to birds, does he sound like a bird himself?

He could use a different amount, but it's easier for him to pull through a lot of energy every time and then take what he needs from that. The remainder makes the white glow, but the lines turn green regardless of how much is extra.
No, he can talk in whatever language he likes. Or just yell. It's a tone-of-voice thing, which is why I use a weird font for it.

alright you asked ^_^ there are very few details the only ones that would be visible in that pose though would be his stitched on rank (maybe a hint of the Omega symbol and most of the "S") on his right shoulder.
That would be the only thing really that could be added to say "this is Wrens trench-coat". Although its more of a cloak than a coat
