He looks young but story wise he's fairly old, not super old, but almost over the hill. Squi and other races in Squirrelly Days that have Demori members tend to age differently than other races. They appear younger than normal most of their lives and usually die sudden while in otherwise good health. There's an important story reason for that, but that would be a major spoiler.

Finka is Teran's familiar. Together Teran and his mother Acia make up the last of the Ankarok tamers.
