Hakufu Sonsaku is the childhood friend and later core Harem mates of Shinji Ikari during the Age of the Eternal War.

A second-year transfer student at Nanyo, she is not terribly bright, but is immeasurably powerful despite being only a D-ranked fighter. Because of her busty physique and high skill, she is known by others as the Busty Fighter (爆乳闘士, Bakunyū Tōshi), and is also known by her predecessor's title, the Sho Haou (小霸王, Shō Haō, "Little Conqueror"), due to her fate of conquering all of the rival schools. Hakufu cares little for the politics involved between the fighters, only caring about fighting for the sake of fighting, but is staunchly against unnecessary violence and killing. Lately, however, with trouble brewing all around her, she is beginning to take up the mantle of a leader to protect her friends and family.

Yet her fate changed due to her growing feelings for Shinji Ikari, a childhood friend whose sadness made her decides to forsake her predecessor's past and decides to support her friend's destiny.

Hakufu possesses a unique gift for predicting an enemy's moves very accurately by reading the flow of chi around her opponents, which occasionally makes her seem brighter than she is. For instance, she will put an end to a fight simply by stating the next moves of an opponent with frightening accuracy, breaking his will to fight after he realizes the futility of fighting her. She is also very good at "delayed striking", where she makes a feint attack in order to leave an invisible "chi bomb" which detonates moments later while the enemy's guard is down. She is skilled at "inner striking," which is another chi attack where she sends her chi into a person, causing damage to manifest at unusual places. She also inherited Master Chosho's knowledge of chi magic, and, while currently unaware of this, is able to use it partially by instinct.

Hakufu harbors a powerful dragon as one of the Three Great Rulers (the founders of the Three Kingdoms, along with Sousou and Ryubi). Before joining Nanyo, Hakufu lived with her mother, Goei, outside of Kanto where she, like the samurai, practiced things like flower arrangement and the tea ceremony while training heavily in martial arts. Goei was hoping to spare Hakufu her fate, but after Hakufu pummeled a traveling fighter looking for easy prey, they moved in with Koukin. She is very girlish and happy-go-lucky but is capable of wisdom despite having very bad luck.

Known for being naked beneath her clothing due to being tomboyish in nature, Hakufu's desires to face stronger fighter led her to facing Jordan Vermillion before recognizing him as the 'Barbarian' who had threatened Jun Kazama. Refusing to listen to his reasons, Hakufu changes into her Black-colored Aikido Gi and goes all out, especially displaying an amazing degree of photographic memorizing of fighting styles. The fact she uses Maito Gai's Taijutsu is a shock for Jordan but she has developed a 13 Gates technique which doesn't use execessive ki (or Chakra). She even adapts the Anatsuken Karate style so quickly that she cancels Jordan's Hadouken with a Metsu Shoryuken.

The fight ends in a draw and sheer exhaustion, which Hakufu had a smile on her face while she slept on the mat. The pair would have a rematch and again, ends in a draw due to Hakufu is able to keep up with Jordan before unleashing her 15 German Suplex moves repeatedly on him.

Hakufu is dubbed the "Hyperactive, Knuckleheaded Fighter" due to having the same tendencies as Naruto Uzumaki and is the only one who bests Naruto by merely tickling him into submission before he returns the favor.

She is very close to Shinji and is the friendly nemesis of Kanu Unchou, Etitoku Chouhi, Ryofu Housen and Ryomou Shimei, the Jujitsu Mistress who always makes Hakufu spar with her for hours while making it clear she'll train or no time with their master/lover.

Hakufu vouches for Juri Han and Cassandra Taiga, the latter whom she actually gives her a super hug while addressing her as "Sister" upon noticing Shinji had marked the Saiyan Empress as his latest Mate.

Her primary nemesis is Jonathan Amagawa and they would spar for hours, even when he defeats Hakufu.
