Description Of course, as it's been far too long since I've made something, I have to resort to fire themes to get stuff working.  Okay, that might be a lie, but the fire colors were too tantalizing to resist.  I had another color scheme in mind, but the other colors seemed to not fare as well...

Also because tumblr, you can see it here too: chaosfissure.tumblr.com/

This is another one that has a very painterly feel! You're great!

How do you do this?!?!?!  So beautiful it is ridiculous!!  I love it <3

Thank you

Each change I make to the fractal is done in an attempt to open up another creative door, or to explore something really cool that I saw when trying to do so.  I keep doing this until I really like how the shapes look, and then begin working with color...

It's somewhat hard to explain, as I really don't keep track of how I go about doing it, and rather "live in the moment" as I make things.

so pretty... it reminds me of Japanese painted waves (:

Interesting juxtaposition.  While I personally would have likened "Seen from the Far Mountain " to that type of art a bit more, this definitely does have some similarities with painted waves as well.  Given a bit more gamma or a white background, --> Ashes Waves  --> might be able to represent it with less of a dark and intense blue tone too

the whiter version really does look like waves of ash. it's odd that such dangerous things like lava or volcano ash can be so beautiful

ChaosFissure In reply to mothfly [2014-10-29 23:20:56 +0000 UTC]

Danger has nothing to do with beauty.  Maybe accessibility to see or capture it -- and maybe the power behind it contributes to its beauty too

That being said, I find fire, and various manifestations of it, beautiful when portrayed in an appealing way -- particularly because of how chaotic its nature can be (just a small flame to the burning heart of a solar system), and partially due to the glows, colors, and sense of life that it provides.  It's also wonderful to use and easily serves as a mechanism providing contrast and texture in addition to what I already mentioned.  At least, that's my view of it.

After Vesuvius  -> If you're reaaaally looking for volcanic ash stuff...

This reminds me of lava, like two waves of magma crashing up against each other and hardening before they can fall back down.

That is a much cooler description than what I could come up with for this myself, and I absolutely love it.  Part of what I love making artwork like this is to hear awesome interpretations people have of my artwork that I never would have thought of!

Thank you  I love the colors myself, though I have a tendency to think that I use them too much...fire's just one of those things I love working with, and I guess I need to accept that XD

Well, I've had my artwork mistaken for paintings [oil, acryllic], photography, and digital paintings, and it constantly amazes me that I'm able to create something that can actually cause people to say that.  It's a great compliment to me

I've always appreciated texture in artwork, and I love how dynamic color schemes can be in some digital artwork that I've seen over the years.  I try to make my artwork into something that I find engaging, and that often is a mix between textural elements and abstract, dynamic shapes and colors mixing together in interesting ways.

I'm glad you like it ^_^

At the moment, I've not started selling prints of my artwork, but hopefully sooner than later I'll make my own website for such a purpose.  Apologies that I don't have a more concise answer at the moment :/

The sweeping flames, consuming the land, leaving behind not but ash and smoke and decay. Though a devastating fire, 'tis one of great beauty. Lovely job!

Fire is mysterious in that way.  I love it because of how dynamic it can be, but I also focus on its power to much too...some day I need to try some softer fire ... warmth, rather than BURN BABY BURN!

ChaosFissure In reply to b33rheart [2014-09-23 21:00:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you like it!  Personally, here I am thinking that the framing is silly and there's too much dead darkness near the top of the image.  I think the white edged tips on the ... ashes ... are a bit too bright and make it stick out too much compared to the background?  Apart from that I like how this turned out though!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

b33rheart In reply to ChaosFissure [2014-09-23 21:15:35 +0000 UTC]

I can see why you are saying this, if I look at those details individually. However, if I'm looking at the whole picture, the deadness of the dark and the thickness of the white edges are what make the "ashcloud" pronounced enough to be able to serve as a good complementary to the "lava field". At least, this is how I feel.
