Description A bit of an interesting result I stumbled across when trying to mess around with linear variations earlier. I think it's quite like a painting

I spent a while trying to get that effect. I'm glad that you like it!

This is lovely! I dare say that it is indistinguishable from a watercolour

In my Apo7x15b, the params look like a "demo version" of the final render Chaotica tweaks?

There are curve tweaks in Chaotica. I will be explaining how those work in a tutorial I am currently writing

nice! usually linear flames are messy. not the case with this piece.

When you compare it to the random batch linear variations, yes, you can definitely see that this was planned and not just a bunch of pure randomness

In a traditional 'fractal' sense, it lacks rigid symmetry, shape, and an obvious pattern as seen in many "structured" pieces.

Yeah i can tell that this was a deliberate effort. I love your style and im looking forward to your tutorial on Chaotica tweaks!

The tutorial will be on both how to make the fractals and how to mess with stuff in Chaotica. Although a video would be better...hmm maybe I should poke lyc...

Thank you I'm always fascinated by clouds and how they look, so being able to emulate them somewhat in fractals is something I've always liked trying to do!

ChaosFissure In reply to Fiery-Fire [2012-03-20 17:30:38 +0000 UTC]

I love how the colors roll around the fractal as well. It took quite a high gamma setting (25!!) to make the colors not fade away too quickly. I didn't do too much modification with the color settings either; I spent more time messing with curves in Chaotica than I did selecting and tweaking the gradient in Apo ;o

Must say, those color curves you put in Chaotica are quite handy. I didn't want to change them /too/ drastically ([link] ), but I really am shocked by how it turned out!
