Description

In 1894, the british explorer James Halison became the first man to ever step on the beaches of the archipelago that would later be named after him. Unfortunately he didn't have much time to celebrate his discovery, as he and most of his crew were quickly devoured by the local wildlife.

Over the years, many unfortunate explorers would follow Halison. Some sailors survived the attacks and wrote down what had happened to them and what they had learned about the islands. In 1965, a team of marine biologists discovered the island and informed the OCMC, after encountering a colossal marine creature. A few weeks later the first expedition was started. The researchers were amazed by the beauty of their discovery: giant forests filled with unknown plants and flowers, shallow and warm water and even a few mountains were seen in the distance. But they also had to face the same dangers as the sailors before. Within a day the island had already claimed its first victim, and two more would soon follow. The mission was stopped afterwards. In the following years expeditions slowly became less dangerous, as researchers started to understand what too look out for and which places they had to avoid. Today, it's relatively save to explore the archipelago, although there are still many unexplored regions.

The Halison isles consist of nine islands of varying size that form an archipelago roughly two times the size of hawaii. It appears to be of volcanic origin, since there are three inactive volcanoes found among the mountains on the largest island. The majority of it is covered in rainforests, with smaller and dryer areas surrounding them. The archipelago's most interesting feature however are the species living in it. There are over 100 species endemic to it, and many of them are so unique that they almost seem surreal. Interestingly, the dominant species are reptiles and amphibians, not mammals and birds like in most other places. The water surrounding the isles are warm and shallow, with hundreds of marine species living in it.

The isles have no human inhabitants whatsoever, after the few surviving sailors had been evacuated. Researchers are visiting the archipelago every few weeks, but the usually stay for only a few days. Exploring the archipelago on you own is not allowed by the OCMC. Curious tourists and adventurers only have a chance of visiting it alongside the researchers in small groups, and only after training several weeks to survive on the island. Still, the Halison isles are a dangerous place, and going there always will be life- threatening.

Well, I have to admit that I kinda suck at drawing maps. That's why I'm super glad that I've found this program called 'Mapgen4' that helps you create maps in minutes! If somebody wants to create a cool map I would recommend giving it a try!

As always, thanks for reading

See ya!
