I think every culture has someone bad like Lamia that they use to scare the children if they are naughty. We were told the "Boogie Man" would come in the night and take us away in his sack and we'd never be seen again

Yeah we didn't think of the Boogie Man as a black African man - just someone who wore dark clothes - like the coal man of the Victorian times....but the idea of some dark shadowy person prowling the street at night with a sack full of naughty children was enough to terrify us

Haha it's close enough! Gwyn's a Welsh Faerie. (: From what I know, he leads the Wild Hunt, and has a connection to the underworld. Cool, right? He's in that story with the kelpie, but the author f that has adapted him considerably for her needs, so I'd love to see something closer to the original stories!
