Really surprised! I fell out of it after the release of Ruby and Sapphire simply because I didn't have a Gameboy Advance at the time. I've never played those games, or FireRed, LeafGreen, Diamond, Platinum or Pearl. Crystal was the last Pokémon game I played for a very long time, so picking up SoulSilver was no problem for me whatsoever. I wound up skipping Gen III just like you. I had a GBA, however there were just other games out at the time that were interesting I suppose I didn't do it on purpose, it was a subconscious thing. Crystal too was the last Pokemon I played before I got Diamond a few years ago. I would like to visit Gen III but I fear it would be awkward taking a step BACKARDS. Sometime I might. Definitely want to get HG/SS. Y'welcome sir

I just don't know how much longer I'll be playing Pokemon.

I want one more game. No new Pokemon. No new country. Just all the existing nations, all the existing Pokemon, MMO style. You see other players running around and can challenge them. That'd be awesome. Once an anti-hack system was perfected anyway.

Oh man I think we're all done with the Wonderguard-hacked Spiritomb and Sableye. I can't see that idea working out without an anti-hack system, and that seems like a very, very tall order.

All Pokemon would have to be stored server side, at Game Freak's end. That is the only way to keep people from hacking them.

That's really the entire appeal. Once you get used to one thing, you can't help but get even a little eager to know what could possibly come next. All I can say is the release of HeartGold and SoulSilver here in the states has awakened my inner Pokémon fan, and as soon as the new Black and White versions are available here, I'll be purchasing my copy. Since Red and Blue? There have been some silly ones from the very beginning But Wartortle's design did bother me, too, in that his evolution almost seems backwards. He suddenly gains a huge billowing tail and wing-like ears, and then, when he evolves into Blastoise... nothing. There is not even a hint that they were once there. He really just looks like Squirtle with a few accessories and a tan(?). At least newer-generation Pokémon incorporate particular design elements throughout the evolutions... Most of the time .
