Description
My father attends a sort of church thing called Self Realization Fellowship that was founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in the early 20th century. I read the last chapter in his book, The Autobiography of a Yogi, that was about my home town, Encinitas, and was inspired to do this piece.I also was influenced by the ideas and style I saw in a piece blindn did for lifelounge magazine, although after lengthy discussion and deliberation it was determined that this was essentially a complete rip of his work. .sunset is the second version he did of the original piece.

have you ever been there mate? SRF sits on a cliff over looking a world-class surf break called Swamis, if you look closely you can see a picture of this break in the "crown" of the highway 101 sign. Now, these particular surfers come from "surfer crossing" road signs dotted along highway 101 that borders SRF. did you also notice the lifeguard tower and seashell? i think the ocean and surfing is pretty well connected to this piece, you know?

I love this, but I think the background texture is... killing it softly... strumming it's pain with it's texture if you will... You should do a large print of this without the texture and wrinkle it up. Fold it and carry it around in your back pocket for a week. Wrinkle it up again, and then, scan it in.
