Description You don’t know why you did it. The place was old, decrepit, but huge, weird, but kinda cool. You just saw that loose pallet covering a hole in the crumbling garden wall and… snuck in. You were not prepared for what you saw.

Weeds and thorny brush as tall as you. Weird, creepy statues even taller. The one nearest you depicted a woman holding a swaddled baby at arms length, inches from the jaws of a ravenous, malnourished wolf.

You were distracted by it, and failed to notice the noise from a cracked cement path. Then you finally heard the creaking of wheels and footsteps. You ducked down, with a gasp of pain from thorns. Peeking through, you saw a veiled woman pushing a wheelchair that contained an Otherbeing. A man with tall, branching antlers, with short black hair that had a couple grey streaks.

“Stop, please.” He held up his hand. The woman halted the procession. You feared that he had seen you. He bent down…

And picked up a dead baby bird. You silently let out a breath you hadn’t known you were holding. You looked up at the man, as he held and stroked the bird.

“You poor thing. Did you fall?” The man looked up into a bare tree, and so did you, There was a nest. “Poor little thing.” His voice brought your eyes back down to his pale yellow ones. “Keep this for me, Madlin.”

A hand emerged from the woman’s long veil and took the bird. She placed it in a basket that hung from her arm, then took the handles of the wheelchair and started to push once more.

You had seen enough. You tried to crawl backwards when suddenly a twig snapped under your foot. The creaking of the wheels stopped.

“Is someone there?” The man’s voice sounded from the path. Madlin hurried over and grabbed you by the arm, yanking you free of the bushes. She dragged you to his feet. “Explain yourself.” he demanded, leaning down to look you in the eye.
