although this is a pretty good elf, i figured Briza to be a bit thicker from the description. not fatter just not quite as lithe as she is here. still pretty well done though.

Yeah, you're right about that XD she's supposed to be the muscular one.
I tried to convey that, but was afraid she'd turn out too bulky.

I love the way this looks! Forgive me for asking, but isn't the oldest sister a larger drow? Or did I just read it that way from some reason?

Thanks! ^^
Larger as in taller, or ..broader? XD haha. I've always imagined her as tall at least, so i tried to portray that.

lskdjfslfkj, late comment is late, but I'm glad to be finally getting to this. =___=;;
Although I still don't think I can offer my best effort right now seeing as I'm still somewhat tired, but I really wanted to comment. xD;; Eh, I'm such a hyprocrite. (I may say that now, but I might just end up with a huge essay later. <__>
Ok let's start, first thing I noticed is that this would be classified as a portrait with flat colored background. The thing you want to watch out for when it comes to those is to make sure the backgournd compliments the figure, it's usually better to choose the opposite color so that there's a good contrast. Although the opposite of purple is yellow and I can see why you might not want to use that color. So why not try something closer like green or blue? OH MAYBE EVEN DARK RED. I think that would look great. One more thing to be cautious of though, don't make the shade too dark, since your figure here is composed of generally dark colors. o__o
I'm really gonna push you this time on using analogous colors to shade instead of using a darker shade of the current color. Analogous means 'next to' so for purple, you'd use blue to make darker, and then red to make lighter. I think you can see a demo of this in [link] So the skin is yellow, but as you can see green is used as the darker shade instead of a darker yellow. Then in [link] you can see how purple is used to shade the blue. But what's more is that red is used as a reflection, instead of explaining I'm going to point you to this tutorial: [link]
Hopefully you find that useful. :3
I don't want to talk about anatomy, and I think I had this conversation with someone before, If I've rambled about this with you before just ignore what I'm going to say. But if I haven't, well, it's generally that we ALL know we need to improve/can imporve on anatomy so I don't feel that pointing out anatomical issues in one particular picture will help anyone learn anatomy. D: (Actually, I'd be happy if it were that easy. xD;;; )

Oh, but you don't have to make such elaborate comments if it becomes such a burden to you x) I feel bad for it, almost! But on the other hand, I appreciate your comments a lot ^^ never forget that.
I wanted Briza to blend in a bit with the background.. That's why I picked a dark one, like this dark purple. The alternatives would be to use a lighter shade of purple, or pink, but somehow that felt too.. girlish XD Or happy. And that's not really the feeling I'd like in this picture.
Dark red would have been an option, but reds tend to steal a lot of attention from other objects That's why I used a pretty grayish shade.
Aah I didn't even know there was such a scheme for shading.. Thanks, I'll look into it Actually the darkest shades on the purplish skin was made with blue, so it wasn't that far from correct x)
But since this is a portrait without background, I got lazy and didn't add any particular lighting or reflections from other objects. I -could- have imagined a background though, and created the highlights according to that.
About the anatomy, I can't do anything else but agree XD
I used a pose reference for this one, from another drawn picture (i.e. no photo) of a pretty extreme character, who's features I pulled down a notch to make a liittle bit more real life-like.
But it's still a bit of a caricature, so don't mind the anatomy much
Again, thanks a lot for spending time on commenting <3 you're my comment-hero XD

Nnonoonno, I'll feel bad if I give a crappy comment. Especially if it's gonna be late you know? D88
Anyhow, about the background, yeah. I figured the reason why you didn't want something bright was because it would be too cheery. But then why not go darker? Anyhow, the point is, better to make it easier to distinguish between the two. Heck, it can even be a gradient background. OH OHHHH, textures? But hey, it is digital, it shouldn't be too hard to try different things and see what works best~ ;D
Bawww, but you gotta make it more obvious! Because it really looks like darker purple on my monitor. o__o Another tip I guess would be to choose colors closer to the right of the picker. Although this is assuming your color picker is like this: [link]
But even if there's no background doesn't mean you can't throw in the reflection light. I can't seem to find a really obvious example at the moment so you'll have to make due with this --> [link] But I think you can see how there's that other shade in her hair. And that's what I'm talking about. :0 Usually though, it's not something you have to put too much of (although I think this is ultimately up to you) like on her right (our right) shoulder.
And you're always welcome Xeik~ *FLIES OFF INTO SUNSET*

oC works generally the same as PS, so I don't think it should be a problem to adapt it :]
I hope XD at least. Since oC lacks some of the tools that PS has.
I'll take a look at the tutorial, thanks! ^^
