I love how Ken is perfectly un-amused. So, I have a sad question to ask you... did I miss Ken on the new series? I bet I did. I missed everything.

Uff you missed it but it was so minor.
There was a hilarious error though that you might find amusing. You know how Ken's eyes became slightly less... menacing after his breakdown? Well it seems the animators with the character sheet kind of ...overlooked that. So he appears in that episode looking all Kaiserish. XD

OOO!! That is very amusing! So, they weren't significant at all were they? Why must they torture us Ken fans especially? I find we're not only the most obsessive, but the most sensitive... in the likeness of our guy

Nah Daisuke sucked up most of the 02 cast time. Ken was just there to form Imperialdramon. Yolei got a silhouette and poor Cody was failed to be even mentioned. I laughed.
But it made some awesome buzz on tumblr at least. Got my 'promotion hat' on and pushed askwormmon on everyone who would stop and listen.

But where is Kari and TK? Did they get kicked off of the team??

For my little comic project the focus will be on these four. I cannot actually describe how little growing TK and Kari needed, they had very little that needed developing in the series and their presence just left less leg room for the new four to develop. (had they followed the creepier storyline that was in mind with Kari's trip to the dark ocean, I would change that opinion entirely)
As soon as Ken stopped being the Emperor, he became boring. Davis had a few key moments but that was purely nearer the end and I think he had more time to come into his own, but Yolei and Cody were the casualties of 02, shallow family dynamic, shallow personalities, there was not enough fudge in the cake to make it tasty if you get my drift. SO! Given that I have very little else to do with my time at the moment, I'm developing them, 4 years onward in this incarnation.
TK and Kari may make appearances but I count them as first Gen, and I think in their heads, Tai is still their leader. Cutting them out is simply trimming the fat, I have nothing against the characters but they're not juicy enough for me.
Sorry for the long response but I may as well leave an entire reasoning should I be asked again on DA.

Oh yeah, I really like your plot. I was inspired to write a little story about it. Hope you like it! ^-^
“Davis, Kari and I need to talk to you,” TK announced, interrupting his conversation with Ken.
“I’m talking to Ken right now,” Davis sighed. “Can it wait?”
“No, it’s fine,” Ken smiled, patting Davis’ shoulder. “We can talk later.” He gave Davis a look, and TK glanced to Kari.
She nodded.
TK waited until Ken was no longer within earshot, and began right away. His blood was starting to boil already. “Listen, Davis-“
Kari put a hand on his shoulder, sensing that he was going to bring this about the wrong way. “We want to thank you for the opportunity you’ve given us,” she began kindly.
Davis just stared into her eyes.
“Um,” she glanced at TK, who shrugged. “Well, we just can’t go on living this lie,” she sighed.
Davis frowned. “Lie?”
“We still think of Tai as our leader,” TK put in suddenly.
Kari turned narrowed eyes to him. “Smooth,” she whispered under her breath.
TK shrugged again. “We’re gonna head out. Leave you to lead the others without us.”
Davis just stared at the two, his eyes darted between them, shocked.
“Sorry, Davis,” Kari soothed. “It’s nothing against you.”
“No. It’s fine. You two were holding us back anyway.”
Now it was time for TK and Kari to look shocked. TK’s lips curled back into a growl, but Kari placed a hand on his arm, her eyes glaring into Davis’.
“If that’s how you feel,” she stated coolly, “then we’ll leave immediately.”
Davis only nodded.
“Come on, TK, let’s go.”
TK fumed as he followed Kari back to camp.
“That didn’t go as well as I’d hoped,” Kari commented, her voice low and hurt.
TK moved one shoulder. “Oh well,” she snarled. “Now we can move on with our lives.”
Kari nodded sadly. She really didn’t want to leave, but she knew it was time. She knew they had to give the others a chance to grow.
So, with heavy hearts, TK and Kari strode away, their Digimon trailing behind them, their friends watching them go.

I had a slightly different approach in my brain but as I can't write for jack I haven't made any attempts to word it, maybe I'll visit it in the comic, but I think it's going to take a backseat.
But I think it's going to be more of a 'over time' kind of thing, focuses change, people grow. It's just how things happen and in 4 years alot can happen to distance people.
But if any kind of inspiration even if it's just paragraphs, hits you, please send them my way! I'll credit any contributions to the plot.

I'm leaving that ambiguous as the show did, but I really could care less. Lets give her to TK.
Her personality was so shallow it didn't interest me. Her 8 year old self was even more interesting.
I'm going to cover Davis's 'falling out of love' crisis later. But I did state in earlier drawings, Romance? Doesn't interest me. At all, I'm terrible at it and terrible at writing it.
