Description Mermaids are genderless creatures.
They can reproduce by carrying one or two small eggs inside their stomach, that grow together with the mermaid.
After the mermaid died, its offspring hatches and eats up the mermaids remains.

The deep see mermaid lives in the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean.
It stays both directly under the ocean surface and up to dephts of about 2000 meters, where no sunlight can be seen.
Down there, the deep see mermaid uses its ability to bioluminesce to attract prey.
The small bioluminesce "markings" are only on the upper part of their body and on their arms and are always symmetric.

Deep see mermaids mostly live alone, but sometimes unite to hunt down bigger prey like dolphins or sharks.
In rare cases, they even attack victims of a shipwreck or humans in small boats.
They use their sharp teeth and nails to injure their prey, and try to drag humans down in the water so they drown.

So yeah, my first full planned own species
I guess their prettier but not less dangerous coral reef versions will follow soon…
