Now tell me - from where do you take references? I am always struggle to photobash textures in case of owner - "Ha! That one part of your painting is mine! I will see you in the court!"Β

Dont be afraid to take reference image, since your just using it as a simple reference and not as your actual final image,
there is a huge difference betwen photomanipulation and photobashing.Β
When you do photomanipulation the reference images from the internet are usually easy to recognize. and for that you generally can give a direct credit to the artist.Β
Photobashing consist more of 90 % of you painting and compositing and 10% is a bit of everyting you find that gives you a little edge and makes you go faster.Β Let say i find a photo of your shirt and i take just the highlight of your elbow to make a mountain, it sounds weird but it can work.
Β (you use textures as a abstract concept more than what it really is) thats the secret.

Β Haha, as I can consider from your answer the key is to not get nothing recognisable and mix bunch of not related(at first sight) stuff - In your painting every part looks so consistent to the rest of painting as part of the living imagined world - That so cool

this is from an old idea i had in highschool, just never tried to execute it before.Β
Im inspired by a lot of things, cant be to specific but for this one i could say by starwars mainly,
Β and all sort of adventure/futuristic/wasteland kind of stuff.Β
I could be inspired by a potato and it will still give me the same result on a potato painting.

because in the end this type of image is not that hard to do when it comes to details and such. Its alot of photobashing and simple paint strokes that gives this effect.

is when you mix a lot of photo textures to give more detail to your drawing, so this piece is basically
a simple 3d model i made, Β with 100 photos all over it to make it look cool. Β
kinda like photomanipulation but more in dept,h because you dont really use a photo like it is,
you modify it to the point were just 10% of that photo is used.
If you want to learn to do it, i recomend looking at john sweeney tutorials on gumroad, they are the best
