Gotta go and practice with blending

good luck with Your practice, self portrait from a mirror is a good way to learn that kind of portrayal

good luck remember that it is very important to study from nature.
few random tips (I wonder if they will help)
Remember to start from the general shape before You go to detail- try drawing your friends heads (or Your own in the mirror) without any details just the generall shadow and light paterns- try to be rather specific about the shape of the shadow (
it's the shadow and light that gives the realism rather than detail)

Thanks SlaaneshBebe Just want to ask, you mean I should draw head first, then shadows only, like shadows surrounding eyes, nose, etc?

yes, not the detail like eyelashes, but very general, even using big brush for it. Sit against the mirror. Best light to start would be artificial like from a lamp so You see good contrast betwen light and shadow. Remember that it is very important to check proportions a lot and that every centimeter makes a differance- take time and try to be acurate. Now take one color for light and another for Shadow (preferably some natural colors, like light skin color and something much darker brown)- place them where they Should be. You can try starting with filling whole face in Shadow flat color and then ad lights, makeing corrections as you proceed. Remember if You place the light and shadow right You will get an impresiion of a 3d shape and that gives more realism. For some time don't trie to work on details- just make those two color heads, than You will start adding details- but first things first

If You wish, I can help You with Your work, I studied portrayal from nature for some time now and sometimes give drawing from nature lessons- just send me a note with link to Your work and I'll be glad to help. Why? Other people help me for no reason- that's how it should be in art society

good luck!

Thanks Slaanesh! I'll get to work on drawing faces and show you You're right that I should practice on those aspects first, I'm having trouble drawing proportionate faces from the start, much more on how to put shadows
