Alsan in all His greatness.I did this a few minutes ago. Spent maybe 45 min total? This is a quick study of what will be a complete piece. Studies help me prepare mentally for a more detailed picture. I enjoy the studies, though, because I love the motion that a quick gesture drawing has.

I love that, despite doing this in a hurry, you captured the wisdom in Aslan's eyes. So many drawings and paintings of Aslan here on deviantart miss that crucial point, and it makes it obvious that the artist simply used an image of a lion as a model (or if they do capture it, it's simply a recreation of the standard movie cover).

I love both this and the "cleaner" version, but there's just something about the rough quality to this that i love. "He's not a tame lion..."

Even for a speed painting, this is very impressive.
And I hope you won't take this the wrong way (because I don't mean to belittle all the time you put into the finished image), but I like this picture more than your final Aslan portrait.
This style really appeals to me, and I especially love how the individual colors compliment each other so nicely.
Again, you did a very fine job on both this piece, and the finished image. Very good work.

I must say I like this 'speed painting' more than the finished one. There's so much movement in this and it seems the wilderness of the lion _and_ the painter are jumping out of the computer into my room
