Description The typed version of the image tutorial is below. I am aware that there are misspellings in the image above

.) Start by bringing your image/pattern into a photo editor (Like GIMP) and crop your image into a square. I'm using this image from Textures.com

.) Create new layer and make it entirely black. This MUST be a sperate layer from the original image you brought in. You will be erasing part of this layer

.) Now you'll do that erasing. In GIMP, I'm using a circle brush that fades out from the center.

.) Go to the 'export' option and try to use the '.spa' or '.sph' extension

.) There's a chance that the program will refuse to export the file. There is another way to convert the image to a '.spa' or '.sph' file! For now, save the image as a '.bmp'

.) Within the Control Panel you can find the File Explorer Options. GO to the 'View' tab.

.) Go the checked box that reads: 'Hide extension for know files types' an uncheck it.

.) Once that is done, go back to your '.bmp' file and open it's 'Properties' window through right-click. Now change the extension name (last three letters) to '.spa' or '.sph'

.) When told that the file may be unusable, click 'yes'

.) Try out your new .Spa/.Sph I used my as a demo on my Basic Shield

you can also use plain png images as spa/sph files, this is my preferred method just because i can see what image i'm using
